A dear college friend of Janie's, Jen Grover, is the principal at Vega Collegiate Academy in Aurora, CO. Vega Collegiate Academy with founded with the firm beliefs that demographics do not determine destiny, college is the access point to opportunity and character and leadership must be taught. It is a K-8 public charter school with the highest Asian population in the state of Colorado. Many of the students come from immigrant or refugee families. 87% of this year's students are multilingual learners. Approximately 97% are eligible for free and reduced lunch. Back 2 School Fair

Janie's Classroom held a Back 2 School Fair at Cure 4 The Kids for our patients and their siblings. Children were provided a backpack filled with school supplies. A big thank you to many of our donors who made this possible! Special thanks to Richard Harris Law Firm who provided us with 200 filled backpacks! We have some super special kiddos who all are deserving of that #BackToSchool excitement. It was so fun sending them back to school in style.

Grief can make us appropriately inward-focused. Venturing out into the world, we look for the good in everyone we meet so we may connect our personal stories of love and loss to the stories of everyone in humanity. Open and nonjudgemental ways of interrelating with others acknowledges our shared humanity. Friendship Books for Marion Earl Library

Janie, along with her two older brothers, attended Marion Earl Elementary from kindergarten to fifth grade. The school honored her with a beautiful friendship wall as she was a friend to many. We know that friendship brings you up when you're down, inspires you when you're in a rut and friends offer you more than support; they provide an opportunity to give as well as to receive. Reading Week in Janie's Classroom

The week of February 27, 2023 is Reading Week in Janie's Classroom. The theme is One World, Many Stories. Students are invited to travel around the world for Nevada Reading Week. There are books, activities and prizes to share from six continents. Your generosity allowed us to collaborate with Cure 4 The Kids to provide the prizes and treats for the various continents. Students can earn points for completing a variety of activities for their Passport Around the World.  A fun week was shared by all.
